The Denomination of Origin Jumilla was founded in 1965. Its vineyards extend across the provinces of Murcia and Albacete.

Climate
Continental climate with the influence of the Mediterranean (located to the east) and the La Mancha plateau (to the west). Arid and sunny climate, with cold winters and very dry and warm summers, featuring irregular and scarce rainfall.
Soil
The predominant soils are brown, brown-limestone, and limestone. Poor in organic matter, with medium permeability and high water retention, which allows the vineyard to survive during prolonged drought periods.
