It is a variety with small, round berries, honey-colored when ripe and sweet in taste. Chardonnay is used in the production of champagne. Although it is not a very aromatic or fruity variety, in cool climates (France) the wines are light-bodied, with high acidity and hints of apple or green plum. In warmer regions, it produces wines with aromas of melon and peach, even exotic fruits (banana, mango, figs). The acidity is lower, and the alcohol content is higher. It is a grape that allows aging in oak barrels, acquiring toasted and nutty aromas, greater complexity, and body. It is one of the most prized white grape varieties in the world.
