Garnacha tinta

The clusters are medium-sized and compact, with medium, spherical berries, red-violet in color and with thin skin. It provides an intense vermilion color, an aromatic potency of preserves and spices, and good acidity, which allows for aging in oak barrels that will give the wines a balsamic, toasted, and mineral background. Except when it comes to very old vineyards, the wines it produces are balanced, fleshy, and with moderate tannic content. It is used to produce aromatic rosé wines (such as those from Navarra), concentrated red wines with blackberry aromas (like those made in the D.O. Campo de Borja), or magnificent reds in the D.O.Ca. Priorat. For this reason, it is sometimes referred to as "The Cinderella of wines," as wines ranging from simple to complex and elegant can be made from the same variety.
