The wine that made Robert Parker fall in love with Jumilla, a red designed for glory that managed to bring out the best of old vines of the local Monastrell grape, was crafted under the hallmark of El Nido. The fabulous climate, the unique characteristics of its soils, and the application of the most modern winemaking technologies have resulted in superb wines, worthy competitors of the globally renowned Ribera del Duero or Rioja wines. In 2001, Bodegas El Nido was born as a dream turned into reality by a few visionaries (the Gil Vera family and Australian winemaker Chris Ringland) who found in Jumilla's Monastrell a compelling reason to embark on their winemaking adventure.
In just a few years, El Nido has become a global benchmark of quality, a wine turned into a legend that guru Robert Parker helped to perpetuate. Moreover, the limited production and high demand for the winery's wines (El Nido and Clio) have contributed to increasing the growing interest of both national and international consumers in the winery's offerings. Bodegas El Nido is a functional construction designed for winemaking. It is located in the Aragona area, north of Jumilla. The Monastrell and Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards grow in small, independent plots planted on very old rootstock. The terroir is the winery's main treasure, its secret to quality. Bodegas El Nido is present in over 35 countries.
