The grapes are small and spherical, almost black in color, with a particular astringent flavor. Their tannins are dense and aristocratic. They release complex fruity aromas (blueberries, cassis, raspberries, blackberries), floral notes (violet, rose), and vegetal hints (green pepper, natural coffee) and produce wines with an elegant structure that age very well. It is a variety that provides great color intensity and good depth. Young wines have a tannic character, but when aged in barrels, the aromas become more complex, enriched with notes of smoke, cedar, incense, licorice… The resulting wine is an intense red color with violet hues, alcoholic and aromatic body, which aging bestows with finesse. It is often blended with other varieties, significantly enhancing the overall result.
