Borgoña

Juno to Bordeaux, Burgundy is the other mecca of French still wine and the birthplace of some of the most expensive wines in the world. This region is characterized by the great fragmentation of its vineyards, making it home to the largest number of designated production areas in France, some consisting of just a few vines. Vineyards that produce wines deeply connected to the ‘terroir’.

The essence of Burgundy wines lies in two of the most prized grapes on the international scene: chardonnay, recognized as the most noble and complex white grape in the global catalog of varieties; and the red pinot noir. Pinot noir produces wines with little coloration but great class and exceptional aging potential. The other red grape of Burgundy is gamay, used to produce ‘beaujolais’: young wines meant to be consumed early.
Climate
Burgundy wines are heavily influenced by the climate, which enjoys an annual average of around 10.5 ºC, with very mild summers and little sunlight (which makes grape ripening more difficult).
