The clusters are very large, very long, and loosely packed. The grapes are also large and fleshy, elliptical in shape, and yellowish in color with a tendency to turn mahogany. It has a great aromatic power and high sugar content. It produces wines with musky flavors and is used for dry, aromatic, and sweet wines. In the Jerez region, it produces sweet wines that bear its name, generally made with sun-dried grapes of great quality. In Málaga, it is often blended with Pedro Ximénez to create a strong-colored wine that can range from golden to black. In Australia, the grape is used in the production of cream sherry.
Weaknesses
It is a drought-resistant plant and appreciates sun exposure. Particularly sensitive to powdery mildew and moderately to mites and downy mildew.
