Although the top spots in Robert Parker's ranking are usually dominated by wines from the great French wineries of Bordeaux and Burgundy, in recent years Spanish wines have climbed the ranks and occupied some of the highest positions on the podium. Wines rated with the highest scores by this guru achieve astronomical prices in the market and are regarded as "safe bets".
