Bela Crianza 2023 is a fabulous Ribera del Duero awarded the Gold Medal at Mundus Vini 2026 and CINVE. It is produced by one of the most promising wineries in the designation, Bela, and stands out for its velvety mouthfeel and flavour. You will only find it at Vinoselección.

Bela Crianza 2023 is one of the Ribera del Duero wines that excites us most to present to you, because we have backed Bela Winery from its beginnings and believe that each of its references surpasses the previous. The 2021 vintage of this red started with one of the best news a wine can receive anywhere in the world: Wine Spectator selected Bela 2021 as the only Ribera del Duero included in the Top 100 of its prestigious list. In addition, the 2022 vintage earned 91 points from Parker and 92 points at the Decanter World Wine Awards.

Bela Crianza 2023 you will only find at Vinoselección and it comes backed by gold medals in the prestigious competitions Mundus Vini and CINVE. It has been produced solely from the Tempranillo grapes that the winery cultivates in Villalba de Duero (Burgos) and has been aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.

Bodega Bela was founded in 2017. It is based in one of the most distinctive areas of the Ribera del Duero, on the Burgos side. There it owns 83 hectares of its own vineyard spread across the municipalities of Villalba de Duero and Moradillo de Roa, in addition to state-of-the-art facilities.

Tasting notes

View

Expressive cherry-red colour, ripe, with an intense garnet edge, medium-bodied, lively.

Nose

The palate phase stands out for its velvety mouthfeel and savouriness. Tactile sensations of great balance and finesse without losing expression and volume on the palate. Flavours in the fruity range (blackcurrant and cherry) blend with smoky notes and cocoa notes. Excellent acidity that allows the sensations to linger. Excellent final persistence with hints of spice.

Mouth

Are you looking for a red wine that shows strength on the palate and stays elegant to the finish? Bela Crianza 2023 offers a bold and well-balanced palate, with a marked presence and an understated character that supports the tasting very well. Its maturation in French oak barrels for 12 months brings a sense of greater definition and complexity, reinforcing a serious and harmonious profile. The result is a wine with an expressive palate, good length, and a refined final impression.

Winemaker

In 2017, the Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (CVNE) fulfilled the desire to honor the founders of the winery from 1879 by launching the Bodega Bela project in one of the most sought-after areas of the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin. This winemaking house, far from its native Rioja, began with an exceptional viticultural heritage of 82 hectares of vineyards, mostly of the tinta del país or tempranillo variety, spread across the Villalba de Duero and Moradillo de Roa regions. Two very distinct areas that contribute complementary attributes to the wines: more structure in Moradillo de Roa and more freshness in Villalba de Duero. A venture that was forged after more than a decade of acquiring these coveted vineyards.

Bela was the affectionate nickname given to Sofía, the daughter of CVNE co-founder Eusebio Real de Asúa, and the great-grandmother of the current leaders of the company. It is a cutting-edge winery with a surface area of 6,000 m² and a large barrel room with a capacity for 10,000 casks.

In 2024, it became one of the highlights of the Spanish wine world when the prestigious publication Wine Spectator selected Bela Crianza 2021 as the only Ribera del Duero wine in its Top 100.

In recent years, Bodega Bela has embarked on its adventure in the neighboring D.O. Rueda, where it is producing verdejo whites that are sure to make waves.
