Mundus Vini was founded in 2001 by the publishing house Meininger Verlag and has since become one of the most important wine tastings in the world. Held in Germany, its very first edition saw the participation of 2,235 wines from all the relevant wine-producing regions worldwide. In 2011, it reached a record participation with more than 6,000 wines. Since 2014, Mundus Vini has been conducted following the tasting guidelines of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine and is held twice a year to accommodate newly bottled wines from the current harvest as well as those that will not be marketed until the end of the year.

Contestants
Wines, sparkling wines, and fortified wines. The wines are included in a tasting according to category, origin, quality level, and type of flavor. The evaluation is carried out in accordance with the 100-point system of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV).
