Monopole is the oldest white wine brand in Spain and a Rioja white with pedigree. Monopole 2025 (Gold Medal at Mundus Vini 2026) is the latest vintage of this single-varietal viura created by one of Rioja's historic wineries.

La Rioja has a strong tradition in white wines; therefore, among reds, we make room for this chapter. We present to you the latest vintage of a Rioja white with pedigree: Monopole 2025. Monopole is the oldest white wine brand in Spain, created by CVNE in 1915, and its name originates from the French term ‘monopoles’ (single-owner vineyards). A white wine with a fascinating history: in the 60s, it broke the mold with its original production method, using barrels and a touch of manzanilla; and until the 90s, it held the Crianza category.

One of the most well-known whites in the country today, available in both Classic and Young versions. This Monopole offers us the young and fruity version. The grapes macerate with their skins for 8 hours at a temperature of 10-12 ºC. After a gentle pressing, the highest quality must (free-run juice) was obtained. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, which helps preserve the fruity and floral aromas of the viura grape.

On its way to a century and a half of history, CVNE remains a family winery that endures to this day with a wide range of wines and different price options. Located in the famous Barrio de la Estación in Haro, the heart of Rioja wine, CVNE is one of the century-old wineries that has successfully transitioned into the 21st century.

Monopole 2025 is an elegant and cheerful wine that can be enjoyed as an aperitif or paired with fish, seafood, and Iberian ham.

The Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España is one of the great symbols of the Estación de Haro neighborhood, the great capital of Rioja wine. Founded in 1879 by the brothers Raimundo and Eusebio Real de Asúa, CVNE (as it is known worldwide) can proudly claim to have remained at the top throughout its history. Ten years after its creation, the winery inaugurated an impressive barrel hall designed by the studio of Alexandre Gustave Eiffel. By 1900, it was already producing nearly 80,000 bottles, an unthinkable feat for the time. The 20th century established CVNE as an institution of Spanish wine.

Over 140 years, it has successfully combined tradition and innovation to create wines that today are the standard-bearers of Rioja reds and have garnered international critical acclaim. Its Imperial Gran Reserva 2004 made history when it was chosen as Wine of the Year 2013 by the prestigious American magazine Wine Spectator, marking the first time a Spanish wine received this recognition.

Since its foundation, CVNE has expanded its heritage and grown with avant-garde projects at different times in its history, such as the creation of Viñedos del Contino or Viña Real.
