Cune Reserva 2020 is one of the classic red wines from Bodegas CVNE. Made predominantly from tempranillo grapes harmoniously blended with garnacha tinta, mazuelo, and graciano, also traditional in the region.
Located in the Rioja Alta subregion, the vineyards that produce Cune Reserva are over 20 years old. The harvest is carried out manually, and the fruit is carefully transported to the winery. After fermentation and an 18-month maceration, the resulting wine undergoes a thoughtful aging process in French and American oak barrels, followed by a period of rest in the bottle for refinement.
The Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (CVNE) is undoubtedly an international wine institution and a flagship of the potential of Rioja wines. With more than 140 years of history, it is one of the pioneering firms dedicated to bottling and exporting in Spain, with several brands distributed across different wine regions within the country.
Suitable for vegans, Cune Reserva 2020 is a wine under the D.O. Ca. Rioja, making it perfect for pairing with meats, baked fish, stews, legumes, or aged cheeses.
Cune Reserva is a garnet-colored wine that offers aromas of red fruits, blackberries, cherries, and strawberries, followed by notes of licorice that are complemented by those coming from its barrel aging (spices, vanilla, toffee, and toasted notes). Its palate is smooth thanks to gentle tannins that provide balance and roundness. The final acidity note gives us a long wine with a retronasal finish where pastry notes stand out.
The Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España is one of the great symbols of the Estación de Haro neighborhood, the great capital of Rioja wine. Founded in 1879 by the brothers Raimundo and Eusebio Real de Asúa, CVNE (as it is known worldwide) can proudly claim to have remained at the top throughout its history. Ten years after its creation, the winery inaugurated an impressive barrel hall designed by the studio of Alexandre Gustave Eiffel. By 1900, it was already producing nearly 80,000 bottles, an unthinkable feat for the time. The 20th century established CVNE as an institution of Spanish wine.
Over 140 years, it has successfully combined tradition and innovation to create wines that today are the standard-bearers of Rioja reds and have garnered international critical acclaim. Its Imperial Gran Reserva 2004 made history when it was chosen as Wine of the Year 2013 by the prestigious American magazine Wine Spectator, marking the first time a Spanish wine received this recognition.
Since its foundation, CVNE has expanded its heritage and grown with avant-garde projects at different times in its history, such as the creation of Viñedos del Contino or Viña Real.
