Bodegas Vizcarra

Bodegas Vizcarra
In the line of small and prestigious wineries that carry on the heritage of the first winemakers of Ribera del Duero, we find renowned names such as Viña Sastre and others perhaps less known but equally praised by international critics, like Vizcarra. A selective winery with very well-positioned wines. The history of Bodegas Vizcarra began in 1991 under the guidance of Juan Carlos Vizcarra, its current owner and winemaker. His father, José Manuel Vizcarra, was one of the pioneers in cultivating vineyards in Ribera during the 1980s.

Convinced of the value of these vineyards, Juan Carlos began winemaking in 1991 in rudimentary facilities, producing family-tradition wines that have been refined over time to compete in the high-end market. His outstanding work in the field stands out, where he applies traditional and perfectionist viticulture. He owns 50 hectares of vineyards in the areas of Mambrilla de Castrejón and Roa de Duero (Burgos), in the heart of Ribera del Duero, cultivated with the denomination's flagship variety, tinto fino (tempranillo), along with a small proportion of international grapes.

In 2007, Vizcarra inaugurated new facilities, where all winemaking processes are carried out by gravity, thus achieving honest and concentrated wines.
