Arrayán is the winery 'labour of love' that the Entrecanales Marsans family established at the remarkable La Verdosa Estate, in the Toledo region. From the finest of its 26 hectares of vines, planted according to the guidance of the guru Richard Smart, arises its flagship wine Arrayán Premium 2021. Subtlety, elegance, balance and complexity.
Arrayán Premium 2021 represents the utmost expression of the winery and is born from the best clusters of the different varieties cultivated on the La Verdosa estate. It is achieved by combining the varieties Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Each variety is vinified and aged separately and, after 14 months in French oak barrels, the final assembly is made. A red that faithfully reflects the character of the place from which it comes, produced with minimal intervention in the winery and maximum care in the vineyard.
Bodegas Arrayán (1999) is the winery of the Entrecanales Marsans family, raised on the La Verdosa estate, in Santa Cruz del Retamar (Toledo). It arose from José María Entrecanales' determination to realise the dream of producing high-quality wines on a spectacular 800-hectare Mediterranean woodland.
For planting the varieties, all of them foreign and uncommon in the area, he had Richard Smart, the renowned Australian viticulture guru. Smart travelled to the La Verdosa estate to carry out an exhaustive study of the soils and to place each variety in the spot where it could express itself best. He also equipped the vineyard with 26 hectares of advanced control systems. Thus was born one of the most distinctive vineyards on the Peninsula. Today, under the direction of oenologist Maite Sánchez, wines are produced here that are well worth discovering and enjoying.

Pairing
Arrayán Premium 2021 calls for dishes with character to accompany its savoury, long and structured profile. It goes especially well with lamb cutlets, beef cheeks, a grilled sirloin, or a game stew; it also pairs wonderfully with aged cheeses and a meat rice dish with a rich, intense flavour.
Bodegas Arrayán, the most personal initiative of the late businessman José María Entrecanales - now managed with great vision by his widow, María Marsans - was born from the dream of producing wine in a beautiful dehesa near Madrid, featuring 800 hectares of Mediterranean forest. In this unparalleled setting, part of the winemaking area of the Denominación de Origen Méntrida, a historic production zone primarily focused on the garnacha variety, Entrecanales sought out the world's best viticultural advisors to develop a comprehensive and environmentally sustainable project.
For the planting of the varieties, all of which were foreign and not widely cultivated in the area, the renowned businessman hired Dr. Richard Smart, a famous viticultural guru based in Australia, who traveled to Finca La Verdosa to conduct a thorough soil study. He positioned each variety where it would best express itself and equipped the 26-hectare vineyard with features such as drip irrigation and radiofrequency stations to regulate the plants' needs. Not content with shaping one of the finest vineyard gardens in the entire Peninsula, Entrecanales enlisted the collaboration of winemaker Miguel Ángel de Gregorio for the production of the wines.
Under the management of María Marsans and the new viticultural leadership of Maite Sánchez - one of the most prominent winemakers on the national scene - the winery has developed parallel projects outside Finca La Verdosa, focusing on the recovery of old garnacha vineyards.
