The historic Murviedro winery signs CV05 Cabernet Sauvignon 2023, a single-vineyard monovarietal produced in the interior of Valencia, where this international variety finds a particularly fresh expression.

CV05 Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 forms part of the single-vineyard wines collection from a leading Levante winery: Murviedro. A red wine crafted to preserve the purity of the terroir and of the fruit through a minimalist-intervention vinification. It is sourced only from plots CV05 of the El Serrano Estate, located in a mountainous area of inland Valencia with calcareous, very poor soils that favour the ideal organoleptic ripeness for the vineyard.

It's time to turn attention back to Levante’s wines, because their quality speaks for itself. Wines marked by ripe fruit, velvety tannins and enviable balance. International critics have long pointed to this region as a great alternative to Tempranillo reds. That's why we’ve turned to a safe bet: the historic Murviedro winery to bring you closer. Take the opportunity to discover one of the most surprising expressions of Mediterranean Cabernet Sauvignon.

Making process

Winemaking

Viticulture and winemaking with minimal intervention, aiming to reflect the full potential of the terroir. The harvest took place on 10 October 2023. Fermentation at 25°C using the natural yeast on the surface of the grape skins, performing gentle pump-overs. After 15 days of maceration, it was pressed. Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks and subsequent racking with its lees for ageing for 4 months prior to bottling.

Vineyard

Description

The CV05 Cabernet Sauvignon plot is located within the El Serrano Estate (D.O.P. Valencia). It was planted in 1996 and covers 4 hectares. The soils are calcareous, and therefore have a granulometry and texture particularly suited to the extreme cultivation of vines. They are very poor soils that favour optimal ripening.

Climate

All year round it enjoys a warm climate and the beneficial influence of the Mediterranean. The climate has a continental character in the mountainous inland areas.

Tasting notes

Nose

Fruity aromas predominate, recalling red berries with a spicy undertone. In the foreground, ripe fruit unfolds with a luscious note (redcurrant jam).

Mouth

With good acidity and freshness, the wine is persistent, with silky tannins and a mineral finish.
