Professional career
The journey of the Perrin family began in 1909 with Pierre Tramier's acquisition of the famous Château de Beaucastel, an emblematic architectural ensemble in the commune of Châteauneuf du Pape. His son-in-law, Pierre Perrin, and grandson Jacques were responsible for cultivating and expanding the vineyards of the estate. Today, the Perrin family also owns wineries in other appellations such as Côtes de Provence (Château Miraval, in partnership with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt), Luberon (La Vieille Ferme), Côtes du Rhône (Famille Perrin-Les Crus), Gigondas (Domaine du Clos des Tourelles), or Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph (Domaine & Maison Les Alexandrins).
Since 2006, the Perrin family has been a member of Primum Familiae Vini, an association that brings together the 12 most important winemaking families in the world, including wineries such as the French Rothschild, the British Symington Family Estates, the Italian Marchesi Antinori, and the Spanish Vega Sicilia and Bodegas Torres.
The wines of the Perrin family are characterized by being the result of sustainable and environmentally friendly viticulture. Since 1964, at Beaucastel, they have not used chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or insecticides, and vineyard work is carried out manually and with plowing. All this results in low-yield, highly controlled productions, which in the winery are transformed into great wines that express the essence of the terroir from which they come.
