The production area encompasses the traditional Catalan wine-growing regions and corresponds almost entirely with the current Designations of Origin in Catalonia (Alella, Empordà-Costa Brava, Conca de Barberà, Costers del Segre, Montsant, Penedès, Pla de Bages, Priorat, Tarragona, and Terra Alta) plus some municipalities with a wine-growing tradition.
