The D.O. extends to the north of the province of Tarragona, encompassing 14 municipalities.
Climate
Mediterranean influences in the Tarraconense regions and continental influences in the bordering regions. The mountain ranges protect the vineyard from the maritime influence.
Soil
Mostly of calcareous-brown type, with low organic matter content. It can be clayey, with a characteristic reddish color or a browner texture. The vine is cultivated on slopes protected by forests.
