Cepa 21 is the winery of José Moro, the third generation of a renowned lineage of winemakers from Ribera del Duero. It is located in a valley in Castrillo de Duero (Valladolid) and features modern, minimalist-style facilities on a small hill that offers wonderful views. Focused on wine tourism, the winery also has its own restaurant. Cepa 21 produces wines with a very good image and a contemporary appeal: fruity and fresh; a true demonstration of the potential of the tinto fino (tempranillo) grape. To achieve this, it relies on 50 hectares of its own vineyards, most of which are distributed around the winery at an altitude between 780 and 850 meters.
Aware that high-quality raw materials are an essential condition for achieving great wines, the winery conducts an exhaustive selection of plots and soil monitoring prior to planting, in addition to meticulous viticulture practices (green pruning, cluster thinning...). Harvesting is done by parcels, and the grape clusters go through a selection table.
The winery also stands out for its commitment to technology: all the vineyards are monitored with field sensors, Internet of Things, satellites… The most innovative technology is used to record all parameters (humidity, wind, or plant stress).
