Hito represents the most contemporary side of Ribera del Duero and all the potential of the tinto fino (tempranillo) grape. A red wine aged for 8 months in French oak, framed within the Cepa 21 project.
Cepa 21 is the winery of José Moro, third generation of a renowned lineage of winemakers from Ribera del Duero. It is located in a valley in Castrillo de Duero (Valladolid) and features modern, minimalist-style facilities on a small hill that offers wonderful views. Focused on wine tourism, the winery also has its own restaurant. Cepa 21 produces wines with excellent presentation and a modern appeal: fruity and fresh; a true demonstration of the potential of the tinto fino (tempranillo) grape. To achieve this, it utilizes 50 hectares of its own vineyards, most of which are located around the winery, at an altitude between 780 and 850 m.
Aware that high-quality raw materials are an essential condition for producing great wines, the winery conducts a thorough selection of plots and soil studies prior to planting, along with meticulous viticulture practices (green pruning, cluster thinning...). Harvesting is done by plots, and the grape clusters are sorted on a selection table. The Cepa 21 winery also stands out for its commitment to technology: all the vineyards are monitored with field sensors, Internet of Things, satellites… The most innovative technology to record all parameters (humidity, wind, or plant stress).
Ideal to pair with meat-based rice dishes, bean stews with chorizo, roast chicken, or cheeses.
The wine displays a cherry red color with violet hues.
On the nose, it is intense and clean, with aromas of ripe black and red fruits, balsamic notes, spices, roasted hints, and noble woods.
On the palate, it is balanced, flavorful, with some body and volume, noble tannic expression, and a persistent finish.
