The wine-growing area of the D.O. includes vineyards located in the provinces of Cuenca and Toledo, although the majority are concentrated around the municipality of Tarancón, in Cuenca.
Climate
Continental climate with Mediterranean components, cold winters and hot yet milder summers. Sparse rainfall, more characteristic of a semi-arid climate.
Soil
The D.O. covers the provinces of Cuenca and Toledo, with soils that differ from each other. The most common are low-fertility, sandy, and sandy-loam soils. Near the Riansares and Bendija rivers, they become more clayey.
