Mesta Black Label 2024, from Bodegas Fontana, combines tempranillo and syrah in an intense, elegant, and well-balanced ensemble.

Mesta Black Label 2024 is born from carefully selected plots in Uclés, in the heart of Castilla, on clay-loam soil at 750 m above sea level, where the continental climate, sunlight, and cool nights promote full ripening of the fruit without losing freshness. It comes from sustainable vineyards, including some of the oldest vines, managed as an integrated ecosystem and surrounded by biodiversity and centuries-old oaks. The varieties used are Tempranillo and Syrah, grown under certified sustainable viticulture with an organic approach. A wine deeply rooted in its terroir, with character and concentration.

The production of Mesta Black Label begins with harvesting at the optimal point of ripeness, carried out at night or dawn to preserve the quality of the grapes, followed by quick transport to the winery. After destemming and gentle crushing, each variety ferments separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, adjusting maceration in each vintage to enhance body and complexity without aggressive extraction. Approximately half of the final blend is aged in oak barrels, adding spicy nuances and texture. The result is a deep and refined wine.

Mesta Black Label is crafted by Bodegas Fontana, a winery closely tied to the viticultural identity of Uclés and a philosophy based on sustainability, purity, and respect for the environment. Their approach combines tradition and technical expertise in a modern winery, with careful winemaking aimed at expressing the personality of the land and the grape varieties. This philosophy translates into a wine that reflects the balance between vineyard, landscape, and aging.

Mesta Black Label 2024 pairs wonderfully with grilled or roasted meats, stews, aged cheeses, and richly seasoned dishes, thanks to its structure, ripe fruit, and notes of oak, cocoa, and spices. At the table, it works particularly well with flavorful, slow-cooked recipes, where its freshness and fine tannins complement without overpowering. It is also an excellent choice for special occasions due to its rounded profile and long finish. A versatile and distinctive red wine.

Tasting notes

Mesta Black Label offers a broad and enveloping nose. A deep, ripe fruit profile with blackberries, black cherries, and hints of plum, subtly integrated with undertones of oak, spices, cocoa, and a delicate touch of vanilla. The ensemble is precise, harmonious, and of good intensity.

Rounded on the palate, well-structured, and full-bodied. Broad and complex, with well-maintained freshness and a balanced acidity that brings liveliness. The tannins are fine and polished, and the flow is smooth. Easy to drink, with a long and refined finish, leaving a precise and elegant impression.
