Fontana Cuvée Alizarina 2023 is born on the 400-hectare estate managed by Bodegas Fontana in Fuente de Pedro Naharro (Cuenca), within the D.O. Uclés. The vineyards, set on clay-limestone soils and located between 750 and 800 meters above sea level, benefit from a continental climate moderated by the altitude, resulting in slow ripening cycles and grapes with great balance. Viticulture is organic and sustainable, focused on biodiversity and soil respect, allowing tempranillo and syrah to express their character with purity, resulting in an intense, fresh, and authentic red wine.
The harvest is done by hand, selecting the grapes directly in the vineyard. Each variety is destemmed, crushed, and fermented separately before completing malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 12 months in 300-liter French oak barrels, refining its structure, softening tannins, and adding spicy and balsamic nuances. After bottling, the wine rests to achieve its final harmony.
Bodegas Fontana, owned by the Cantarero family and located in Uclés, combines winemaking tradition with an innovative vision thanks to its collaboration with Peninsula Vinicultores and the guidance of Master of Wine Andreas Kubach. The winery operates with a sustainable approach, seeking authenticity and maximum expression of the terroir. The Cuvée range, and particularly Alizarina, reflects this philosophy: single-vineyard wines, enological precision, and a contemporary perspective on the Manchego landscape.
Fontana Cuvée Alizarina 2023 pairs beautifully with roasted meats, lamb, small game, spiced stews, and aged cheeses, enhancing its juicy character and spicy profile.
