Peter Sisseck

Family
His connection to the world of wine in general, and particularly to Bordeaux, comes through his uncle, Peter Vinding-Diers, a well-known enólogo in the area and owner of a couple of châteaux in the Graves region, Domaine La Grave and Château de Landira, as well as co-owner, along with his friend Silvio Denz, of Château Rocheyron in Saint-Émilion.

Description of their own wines
Magical wines are those produced only in specific locations.
Professional career
In the 1980s, Peter began helping his uncle, who at that time was revolutionizing white wine production with his work at Château Rahoul. After assisting his uncle during the celebrated 1982 vintage, he completed his Agronomy Engineering degree in Denmark in the mid-1980s. Upon finishing his studies, he moved to California to work at Simi Winery in Sonoma, where he experienced the American technological approach, quite different from the French methods he was already familiar with. In 1990, he arrived in Spain, in Ribera del Duero, as Technical Director of Hacienda Monasterio. During his time in Bordeaux, Sisseck connected with Jean-Luc Thunevin, famous for initiating the garage wine movement with his Valandraud. Inspired by this movement and its innovative wines, he decided to create something of his own, distinct from the Hacienda Monasterio style. This is how Pingus was born. Pingus is Peter's childhood nickname and now the name of one of the leading European examples of those garage wines. Since 1999, Sisseck has also been an advisor for Celler Mas d’en Gil in Priorat, and since 2002 for Quinta Sardonia in Sardón de Duero. His latest personal initiative is PSI.
