The Fernández Rivera family can proudly claim to be pioneers in Ribera del Duero. The winemaking history of this lineage began with Alejandro Fernández and his wife Esperanza Rivera, founders of the Pesquera winery. The release of Tinto Pesquera wine in 1978 set a style in this region, and its success played a significant role in the recognition of the Denomination of Origin in 1982. The winery's international breakthrough came when the guru Robert Parker awarded 98 points to Tinto Pesquera 1982, comparing it to Pétrus, one of the best wines in the world.

Over the years, the Fernández Rivera family has continued to expand its legacy with other projects in different regions: Condado de Haza, also in Ribera del Duero; Dehesa La Granja (Zamora); and El Vínculo, the latter in La Mancha. In each of their four wineries, they have garnered the applause of specialized critics. Additionally, the family owns the Hotel AF Pesquera, inaugurated in 2011 in Peñafiel (Valladolid). The third generation of the family has already joined the company.
