It is the largest wine-growing region in the world, located in the southern plateau, spanning the provinces of Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, and Toledo. In 2017, it marketed slightly over 87 million bottles, 43% of which were destined for export.
Climate
Extreme continental, with very hot temperatures reaching 45 ºC in summer and -15 ºC in winter. Low rainfall.
Soil
The terrain is flat and the orography gently undulating. Soils are generally reddish-brown and calcareous.
