General Information

The Fernández Rivera family is one of the most renowned wine dynasties from Spain beyond our borders. From their Valladolid estate of Tinto Pesquera, they have showcased to the world the virtues of our quintessential native grape, Tempranillo, which they master so well. However, their relentless drive and determination led them to embark on new projects in different production areas; La Mancha is the latest of these, where the family founded their winery, El Vínculo, in the late nineties.

To produce this single-vineyard wine, it was first necessary to find an estate capable of offering the best expression of Tempranillo. They found it in El Paraje La Golosa, located in Campo de Criptana (Ciudad Real), a vineyard with old vines and small clusters that encapsulate the wisdom of the land.

From this estate comes El Vínculo Paraje La Golosa Gran Reserva 2017, the best Gran Reserva of the D.O. La Mancha and the top wine of the winery. Vinified only in the best vintages, this limited-production Tempranillo elevates La Mancha from its modest reputation and proudly places it on the map of elite wines. It pairs perfectly with game dishes such as roasted pigeon with cranberry sauce. It could also accompany beef dishes, like braised ox shank with mushrooms.

Tasting notes

It displays a beautiful cherry-red color with garnet hues at the rim. A bright red wine with a medium-high depth.

On the nose, it is fragrant, complex, and exhibits very good aromatic intensity. The first notes reveal ripe black fruits (sloe berries and blueberries) that blend with elegant hints of gently toasted oak and a spicy background, evoking clove. A pleasant finish marked by reminiscences of cocoa and dried dates.

On the palate, it is flavorful, silky, and well-balanced. A wine that showcases mature and soft tannins, seamlessly integrated, creating a harmonious experience with a clear fruity character. The spicy and gently toasted notes contributed by its barrel aging are perfectly balanced by its extended bottle aging. A long and persistent finish, where the fruity and cocoa notes reappear.

Creators' opinion

The winery

El Vínculo

Familia Fernández Rivera is one of the most renowned national winemaking groups. After placing their Tinto Pesquera at the pinnacle of the global wine atlas, they decided to embark on new projects across different Spanish regions with a common protagonist: the tempranillo variety, which they master so well. The latest of these projects is located in Campo de Criptana (Ciudad Real) and was born at the end of the last century under the name of El Vínculo.

In 1999, the family found perfectly acclimated tempranillo vineyards in these lands of Don Quixote and committed to producing great Manchego red wines with them. El Vínculo is the only winery in the group that does not focus exclusively on tempranillo. Its vineyards also include the white airén grape, native to the region, with which they craft one of the best national white wines: Alejairén.
