Its clusters are medium-sized and compact, with medium-large spherical berries and a sweet flavor. It provides body and structure to cava. Xarel·lo wines are aromatic (honey and raisins), balanced, slightly sweet, silky, flavorful, with high alcohol content and good acidity, which is why they do not yield good results when made as young wines but excel when aged in barrels.
Weaknesses
Sensitive to powdery mildew (which is usually avoided by training the vines on trellises), mites, and grape moths.
