Mencía

It has small and compact clusters, with medium-sized berries in an ellipsoidal shape, bluish-gray color, and thick skin. It is an aromatic variety, where red fruit and the character of the terroir (minerals and slate) are always present. The alcohol content is usually high and the acidity low, making it more suitable for producing young wines, with short aging periods, carbonic macerations (resulting in spicy aromas on the nose and smoothness on the palate), or rosés (which yield very good results, producing aromatic, fruity, light, smooth, and vibrant wines).
