White grape primarily found in the Canary Islands, Valencia, and Zamora. It produces aromatic wines with a slight bitterness and a very distinctive sweetness. Commonly used to make highly perfumed dessert wines, rich in extract and full-bodied, reminiscent in flavor of Muscat and well-suited for aging. Malvasía is also used to enhance the character of lighter wines. Once sidelined, Malvasía is now a grape rediscovered for quality wines.
