Discover the freshest and most expressive side of Rioja with Hacienda López de Haro Blanco de Badarán 2025, a wine that combines the classic elegance of the D.O.Ca. with the vibrancy of high-altitude vineyards. Crafted by the prestigious winery of the Vintae group, this coupage of native and foreign white varieties offers an intense and complex nose along with an enveloping palate. A white wine with character and great versatility.

Hacienda López de Haro Blanco de Badarán 2025 is born in the heart of Alto Najerilla, in Badarán, at over 600 meters above sea level. The grapes come from a combination of old vineyards—mainly viura and malvasía—and younger plantations with garnacha blanca, tempranillo blanco, maturana blanca, and chardonnay. The clay-iron soils and the mountain climate lend freshness, tension, and a marked identity to the wine.

The harvest is carried out manually, ensuring a rigorous selection of the grapes at their optimal ripeness. After a 12-day maceration, the must ferments at a controlled temperature below 25 ºC to preserve its aromatic profile. Subsequently, the wine is aged for four months in second and third-use French and Eastern European oak barrels. This aging process adds complexity and a silky texture without masking the freshness and varietal characteristics.

Hacienda López de Haro is the most emblematic project of Vintae in Rioja, a winery that has managed to reinterpret tradition with a contemporary perspective. From its base in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Vintae pays homage to the great fine wines of Rioja, combining elegance, authenticity, and a strong commitment to old vineyards. This white from Badarán is a clear example of that philosophy: a wine that respects its origin and projects it into the future.

Hacienda López de Haro Blanco de Badarán 2025 pairs perfectly with seafood rice dishes, baked fish, creamy cheeses, or mild Asian cuisine.

Creators' opinion

The 2025 vintage was marked by one of the lowest productions of the century and spectacular quality. The dry and stable summer weather favored an excellent sanitary condition of the vineyard, and the final phase of maturation developed under optimal conditions, achieving a great balance between alcohol content and phenolic ripeness.

The winery

Bodega Hacienda López de Haro

Located on a hill in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, in the heart of Rioja Alta, Bodega Hacienda López de Haro (formerly Bodega Classica) rises above a true sea of vineyards nourished by the Ebro River. The Riojan Sonsierra is an area situated on the southern side of the Sierra de Cantabria and Toloño, which protect it from the cold and humid winds of the Cantabrian Sea. Its weather conditions, with more rainfall in winter than during the rest of the year and winds channeled through the Ebro Valley, make it an optimal area for vine cultivation. Its rugged terrain, with clay-limestone soils that are highly drained, is perfect for the tempranillo variety.

At Bodega Hacienda López de Haro (D.O.Ca. Rioja), the goal is to respect traditional winemaking methods, so the fermentation tanks (ranging from 15,000 to 35,000 liters) have very wide openings to mimic the traditional winemaking in open vats. This allows for easier punch-downs to better work the cap. The winery has a stock of nearly 5,000 barrels, three-quarters of which are French oak and one-quarter American oak. French oak aligns with the style of wines produced at Bodega Hacienda López de Haro, as it better preserves the fruit and the distinctive character of the varieties most used in the López de Haro collection: tempranillo, garnacha, and graciano. The winery manages 95 hectares of its own vineyards and controls an additional 450 hectares.

The latest recognition for the wines from this winery comes from Master of Wine Elizabeth Gabay, the world's leading British expert on rosé wines, who selected Classica Gran Reserva 2012 as the Best Rosé in the World in her report The Rosé Report 2023.
