Listán Negro

The clusters are medium-sized and compact, with spherical flattened grapes, medium in size and bluish-black in color. It is used in Canary wines, either as a single varietal or blended with other varieties (to provide the acidity it lacks). It is also used to produce young wines, aged wines, and even some vinegars. The young wines (generally made through carbonic maceration) are aromatic and very fruity. They have good alcoholic strength and balanced acidity. Notable are their aromas of black fruits and volcanic dust, which give the wine its unique personality. In general, they are enveloping wines with delicate and smooth tannins, and mineral aromas on the retronasal pathway.
Weaknesses
It is a vigorous vine, resistant to diseases and high-yielding, although it shows some sensitivity to powdery mildew and grapevine moths.
