Saint-Estèphe

Recognized as an A.O.C. in 1936, Saint-Estèphe is the largest and northernmost communal appellation among the six found in Médoc. Specifically, the surface of its vineyards represents 8% of the total in this area of the Bordeaux region. It is located in the Gironde department, in the Aquitaine region, in the southwest of France.

Saint-Estèphe is the land of complex red wines with a robust structure, which also stand out for their great longevity.
Climate
The climate is mild, thanks to the proximity of the Garona river.
Soil
The most common composition of soils in the A.O.C. Saint-Estèphe is the same as in the rest of the Médoc: a mixture of gravel, clay, and sand.
