The A.O.C. Gevrey-Chambertin extends across the communes of Gevrey-Chambertin and Brochon, located 15 kilometers from Dijon, in the Côte de Nuits, a subregion of the famous Côte d’Or in Burgundy. Known for being the largest producer of red wines in this area, it encompasses a total of 542 hectares of vineyards, of which 87 are classified as Grand Cru and 86 as Premier Cru.
The appellation was recognized in 1936, with pinot noir being the predominant grape variety. As accessory varieties, the use of chardonnay, pinot blanc, and pinot gris is also authorized, although their use is practically nonexistent. The red wines of the A.O.C. Gevrey-Chambertin are characterized by their power, concentration, and longevity.
