Bodegas Palacios Remondo

Bodegas Palacios Remondo is the home of Álvaro Palacios. Founded in 1945 by José Palacios Remondo, father of the creator of the legendary L'Ermita, the winery boasts a family tradition of 150 years linked to viticulture in Rioja Baja.

The winery is located in the center of Alfaro (D.O.Ca. Rioja), and its 110 hectares of vineyards stretch at the foothills of the Sierra de Yerga. The red garnacha, tempranillo, mazuelo, graciano, and viura vines are cultivated in the unique sites of Valfrío, Valviejo, and Valtomelloso, within the La Montesa estate, as well as in Las Mulgas and Quiñón Valmira. All of these are situated at a maximum altitude of 550 meters above sea level and are characterized by rugged, clay-limestone soils, which impart a distinctive mineral touch to the wines.

In the year 2000, after the passing of José Palacios Remondo, Bodegas Palacios Remondo began a new chapter with the return of his son Álvaro to the technical direction of the family business. Since then, the style of winemaking has evolved towards the concept of single-vineyard wines. The focus is on respecting the terroir and the vineyard, advocating for natural viticulture and artisanal winemaking, without chemicals or foreign yeasts, with red garnacha as the star variety.
