Romeo Organic Monastrell 2020 is made from Monastrell grapes grown in organic, dry-farmed vineyards with calcareous and stony soils at an altitude of 700 metres. It’s been aged for 9 to 10 months in French and American oak (50% each) barrels. A red with intense aromas of ripe red fruit and dark-roast, spicy and smoky notes. Wood-driven structure, sweet, potent, flavourful and elegant with a great attack and good length.
Monastrell is the native variety of Jumilla. This area’s soil and climate make it an ideal habitat where this variety develops its full colour and flavours here – synonymous with quality.
Bodegas Alceño, founded in Jumilla in 1870, focuses on maintaining traditions, from sustainable vineyard practices to natural processes at the winery. It obtains its ingredients from 500 hectares of vines and makes expressive, drinkable wines chiefly from Monastrell grapes grown in dry-farmed vineyards that are harvested by hand.
It is currently working on high-expression signature and estate wines, as well as rosé Cavas made from the Monastrell variety. The winery produces half a million bottles annually, a large portion of which (80%) is exported.
Romeo Organic Monastrell 2020 (D.O. Jumilla) is ideal with meats such as rabbit cooked with garlic or ossobuco stew.
Founded in 1870, the philosophy of Bodegas Alceño is based on maintaining tradition, from the care and control of the vineyard in a sustainable way, meticulously overseeing all tasks and processes in the winery naturally, up to the final bottling of the wines. The winery manages 500 hectares of controlled vineyard and produces around half a million bottles annually, most of which are destined for export.
The wines of Bodegas Alceño are expressive and pleasant, many of them made from monastrell grapes, cultivated in dry-farmed soils and harvested manually.
