Sílice Blanco 2023 originates from a mosaic of small vineyards scattered across steep terraces of granite, slate, and sandy soils, deep in the Sil River canyon. The native Galician varieties treixadura, albariño, godello, branco lexítimo, and doña blanca form a harmonious ensemble with palomino, in the only white wine produced by Sílice Viticultores. A limited production wine that is concentrated, rich, and fresh.
Sílice Blanco es un vino graso y concentrado con el frescor suficiente para reconocer su naturaleza gallega y con la mineralidad propia de la Ribeira Sacra.
Sílice Viticultores is the wine project of the Galician brothers Carlos and Juan Manuel Rodríguez and the winemaker based in Priorat, Fredi Torres. Convinced of the spectacular potential of the vertical vineyards of Ribeira Sacra, the three partners founded a small winery in 2013 in the municipality of Sober, located in the province of Lugo. With the fruit of 2 hectares of vineyards, partly owned and partly rented, they began producing fine and elegant wines outside the Designation of Origin.
The practice of environmentally respectful viticulture and artisanal winemaking, rooted in tradition, are the hallmarks of Sílice Viticultores, which has quickly led them to success. In 2017, their red wine Finca Lobeiras was awarded the Revelation Wine distinction at the Instituto Galego do Viño awards, and specialized critics such as James Suckling and Jancis Robinson have already given high scores to their creations. A meteoric trajectory for a winery that produced 3,000 bottles in its first vintage and today barely exceeds 20,000.
