General Information

A prodigy of biodynamic viticulture and an example of traditional winemaking defined by a long aging period of 6 years on the lees. This is how Manuel Raventós Enoteca Personal 2000, a magnificent sparkling wine, part of one of the most special collections of Raventós i Blanc, could be described.

Under the Enoteca Personal label, Manuel Raventós Negra, the soul and driving force of the Catalan family winery, brings together the best vintages of their signature sparkling wines. The 2000 vintage, which the Club presents to you, of which only 302 bottles were produced, was crafted by the general manager of Raventós i Blanc from macabeo wines from the Vinya dels Fòssils, xarel·lo from the Clos, and parellada from La Creueta, three plots of their spectacular estate in the Conca del riu Anoia, planted with native varieties. The first fermentation, carried out separately for each variety, took place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The blending and second fermentation occurred in the bottle, where the wine aged for 6 years on the lees. Manuel Raventós Enoteca Personal 2000 was rated 93 points by The Wine Advocate, a specialized publication edited by Robert Parker.

The winery

Josep María Raventos i Blanc has left an indelible mark on the world of Catalan wine. Not only was he one of the key figures behind the unstoppable rise of Codorníu – he left the company in 1982 – he was also the mayor of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia and president of the CRDO Cava. In March 1986, barely a week after founding the winery that bears his name, a heart attack ended the life of Josep María during a trip to New Zealand.

The estate where the winery is located spans 90 hectares and has belonged to the family for more than five centuries. The facilities, designed by architects Jaume Bach and Gabriel Mora, won the FAD architecture award in 1989. In less than 30 years, Raventós i Blanc has become one of the most influential producers of cava and still wines (with D.O. Penedès) on the national scene.
