General Information

Gramona Gessamí 2024 showcases the magnificent qualities that, in previous vintages, earned it awards such as the Silver Medal at the prestigious Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. Its great freshness, creamy texture, and aromatic intensity, with a special presence of white flowers, make it a pleasant and very easy-to-drink white wine.

Bodegas Gramona used grapes from two different varieties of muscat -muscat de Frontignan (40%) and muscat de Alejandría (5%)-, sauvignon blanc (40%) and gewürztraminer (15%) in the production of Gramona Gessamí. The fruits underwent cold pre-fermentation macerations to achieve the maximum possible aromatic extraction. Subsequently, a gentle pressing of the grapes was carried out, with the aim of obtaining only the free-run juice, which was fermented at a controlled temperature. Finally, the fermentation is stopped with cold to preserve the amount of residual sugar per liter, set at six grams.

Although worldwide fame seems to be solely the heritage of its excellent cavas, the still wines of Bodegas Gramona also deserve great recognition. The centennial family firm has an interesting handful of productions that blend traditional native varieties with other noble foreign ones, successfully adapted to Catalan lands. An example of this perfect symbiosis is Gramona Gessamí 2024, a balanced and original coupage from the Penedès, with organic certification, which you can enjoy in the company of all kinds of appetizers, salads, vegetables, fish, and seafood, and especially with rice dishes, paellas, and Japanese cuisine.

Tasting notes

Gramona Gessamí displays a pale yellow color with bright greenish reflections.

Aromatically, it stands out for its great intensity. Dominated by floral notes (jasmine, orange blossom, roses), aniseed and chamomile infusion, along with hints of freshly cut grass and fruity notes (table grape, pineapple, peach, citrus).

The entry on the palate is gentle and the passage silky. A light-bodied wine with fantastic acidity that brings great freshness.

The Gramona family represents five generations of winemakers. Since the mid-19th century, they have been working their lands in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia (Barcelona), and today they produce sparkling wines under the prestigious Corpinnat quality label, as well as still wines under the umbrella of the D.O. Penedès. Few wineries have made such significant contributions in recent years to elevate Spanish sparkling wines to the level of the great champagnes.

The sparkling wines of Gramona, crafted by Jaume Gramona, one of the foremost experts on bubbles in our country, achieve remarkable levels of elegance and are characterized by their extended aging periods. These sparkling wines, which garner prestigious international accolades, are made following artisanal processes: natural cork stoppers during aging, riddling racks for clarification, and manual disgorgement.

The Gramona family operates under a biodynamic philosophy across approximately 303 hectares. Of these, 72 hectares are owned by the family, while the rest come from Aliances per la Terra, a viticulturist association founded in 2015 and led by Gramona, which adheres to environmentally respectful practices. In 2014, Gramona obtained the Demeter certification, which guarantees biodynamic farming and winemaking for each wine. A few years later, in 2018, it became the first winery on the Peninsula to receive the BIODYVIN biodynamic certification. The Biodyvin label is a highly demanding certification, specific to the wine sector worldwide, and certifies biodynamic practices in both viticulture and winemaking (winery).
