General Information

Finca Sobreño Viñedo El Pinar Crianza 2020, 100% tinta de Toro, is a special and exclusive edition for the standard Crianza Club of the winery, awarded in this 2020 vintage (Excellent in D.O. Toro) with four gold medals in the Zarcillo, Challenge International du Vin, Berliner Wein Trophy, and Gilbert & Gallard competitions.

After a rigorous selection, the grapes were destemmed and cold-macerated for four days at 10ºC before fermentation, which took place at a maximum temperature of 28ºC. The total maceration period lasted approximately 20 days. Finally, it underwent aging for 6 months in American oak barrels less than 4 years old.

Bodegas Sobreño is a project based on quality and the typicity of a vineyard. The San Ildefonso family, leveraging their experience from their Rioja initiative, set out to find quality vineyards throughout the Iberian Peninsula with a basic requirement: the variety had to be tempranillo, and the vineyard had to be the key to the success of the wines in the new project. The search ended in 1998 when the family arrived in Toro and found a 25-hectare estate where they established the winery. This geographical area stands out for its excellent soil, topography, and altitude, which allow the tinta de Toro to express itself in all its facets.

In 1999, they produced their first harvest, and in a short time, they began to receive various recognitions. Currently, the winery owns a total of 80 hectares of vineyards and oversees another 80 hectares from local winegrowers.

Finca Sobreño Viñedo El Pinar Crianza 2020 (D.O. Toro) pairs very well with beef cheeks in red wine or beef tenderloin with grilled vegetables.

Before the international explosion of the Toro Denomination of Origin, which now showcases its wines on the most demanding tables in the world, Bodegas Sobreño (1998) paved a path towards elegance and subtlety, moving away from the traditional powerful wines of the region.

With the experience of their Rioja initiative, the San Ildefonso family embarked in the nineties on a search for high-quality vineyards across the country with one basic requirement: the variety had to be tempranillo, and the vineyard had to be the key to the success of the wines of the new project. The search ended in 1998 when the family arrived in Toro and found a 25-hectare estate where they established the winery. This geographical area stands out for its excellent soil, orography, and altitude, which allow the Tinta de Toro to express itself in all its facets.

In a short time, Bodegas Sobreño gained a reputation thanks to the high scores awarded by the American guru Robert Parker to several of its wines. The success of the winery is based on the quality of its vineyard: over 80 years old—some pre-phylloxera—with very limited production.
