General Information
Dominio de Fontana Crianza 2021 comes from the heart of the so-called "Rioja Alavesa de Castilla". The emblem of Bodegas Fontana is born from a sustainably farmed vineyard located on their estate in Uclés, at an altitude of between 700 and 800 meters above sea level. These conditions favor the production of grapes of excellent quality that retain all the potential and purity characteristic of their respective variety.
The selected tempranillo and cabernet sauvignon for Dominio de Fontana Crianza 2021 were harvested and fermented separately in stainless steel tanks, and the maceration times to which they were subjected were established after an exhaustive tasting of each of the tanks. The laborious production process established by Bodegas Fontana culminated in 12-14 months of aging in new and semi-new French and American oak barrels, which finally resulted in a very harmonious red wine under the D.O. Uclés, ideal for pairing with good cured cheeses, lamb chops, or meat stews.
Tasting notes
To the eye, Dominio de Fontana Crianza displays an intense cherry color.
Complex and intense nose where the aromas of ripe berries, typical of the tempranillo, stand out, followed by notes of cassis and touches of green pepper, characteristic of the cabernet sauvignon. Its 12-month stay in French and American oak barrels gives it a bouquet with notes of spices, leather, and vanilla.
On the palate, it is velvety and round, very fresh, and with excellent persistence.
The winery
The winery is a family project with over 30 years of history, which has earned the trust of consumers thanks to its consistent track record. Bodegas Fontana, owned by the Cantarero family, has 600 hectares of its own vineyards located between Baja Alcarria and Mancha Alta in Toledo and produces under the denominations of origin La Mancha and Uclés.
