General Information

Red clay soils with hints of limestone give rise to Dominio del Águila Reserva 2020, an impressive red wine crafted from the oldest vines in La Aguilera, Burgos, over a century old (some pre-phylloxera), located at around 900 meters of altitude. The tempranillo grape variety predominates in a harmonious coupage alongside red and white varieties such as blanca del país, garnacha, bobal, or tempranillo gris, among others.

Dominio del Águila is a winery founded by Jorge Monzón and Isabel Rodero in 2010 with the aim of producing pure and fine wines, following the principles of organic farming. The winery, framed within the D.O. Ribera del Duero and belonging to the “Consejo Ecológico de Castilla y León,” has 30 hectares of old vines worked in an artisanal manner.

For the production of Dominio del Águila Reserva 2020, the fermentation process takes place in concrete tanks, where the traditional foot-treading of whole clusters is carried out without destemming. The resulting wine undergoes 30 months of aging in French oak barrels, maturing until bottling. The result is a red wine with remarkable balance and complexity, perfectly pairing with stews, game dishes, or fine Iberian ham.

Tasting notes

Dominio del Águila Reserva displays a cherry red color, with dense tears and medium depth, clean and bright.

Clean and intense nose where aromas of fruits such as cherry, wild berries (blackberries, blueberries), and a herbal touch that provides freshness stand out. The oak is perceived in delicate, well-integrated smoky notes.

A classic-style Ribera, with body and structure, a lively acidity that brings freshness, fruity palate, gentle tannins, and a finish with good persistence and a fine bitterness.
