Acogido a la D.O. Ribeira Sacra, Chuzos de Punta 2020 is a magnificent red wine crafted from old vines over 50 years old, located on the banks of the Sil river. Featuring the mencía variety, with a small contribution of merenzao, it unfolds aromas of forest fruits and underbrush, and on the palate, it is silky and unctuous, thanks to its partial aging of 6 months in French oak barrels. General Information
Under an Atlantic microclimate, on granite and slate soils and at an altitude of 430 meters above sea level, the viticulturist Ramón Marcos works, with an average slope of 45%, the old vines of Pago As Borreas (Doade, on the banks of the Sil river) that produce Chuzos de Punta 2020. A blend of mencía and merenzao that are harvested manually and transported, due to the slope of the terrain, via rails, to the winery. After the selection table and the fermentation of the fruits in stainless steel tanks, at controlled temperature, the wine ages for 6 months in French oak barrels. The result is a fresh, light, and easy-to-drink wine from the D.O. Ribeira Sacra.
Auténticos Viñadores chooses on this occasion the Ribeira Sacra and especially the viticulturist Ramón Marcos to produce a surprising mencía red (95%) with a slight touch of merenzao that surprises with its expressiveness. A wine that pairs perfectly with blue fish, meat stews, small game, Iberian pork, cheeses, salads, and Iberian ham.
Tasting notes
In sight, it shows a beautiful cherry color with a violet rim, bright and with good depth.
On the nose, aromas of red fruit (strawberry, raspberry) appear, with notes of forest fruits, mountain herbs, and dairy.
On the palate, it is fresh, balanced, and easy to drink. Smooth and unctuous. Notes of ripe fruit and spicy memories stand out. Light and elegant.

Auténticos Viñadores is a personal project by Luis Miguel Fernández that focuses on finding winemakers who craft expressive wines, not only reflecting the terroir but also possessing unique and exclusive personality and characteristics. His goal is to discover the “most authentic” winemakers or viticulturists from Galicia, El Bierzo, and Salamanca.
