Description of their own wines
A traditional production, with long macerations and meticulous work with wood. All of this results in long, complex, and highly structured wines.
Professional career
In 1993, he began working at the family winery, Castro Ventosa, long before the Bierzo revolution started, of which he was one of the catalysts and a fundamental figure. He spent 10 years at Castro Ventosa. However, Raúl Pérez needed to do different things, to express himself, to discover other regions… In addition to being the technical director of Bodegas Estefanía, also in Bierzo, where he produces several labels under the Tilenus brand, he started making his own wines, advising other wineries, exploring forgotten grape varieties, recovering vineyards on the brink of extinction, and he created his own company (Raúl Pérez Bodegas y Viñedos). He has also recently resumed collaborating with the family winery Castro Ventosa.
