Casar de Vide Sobre Lías 2024 is a magnificent expression of the character of the Treixadura. Alongside its pronounced freshness and aromatic expressiveness, it features delicate pastry notes and an enveloping softness, the result of its extended lees contact.

Casar de Vide Sobre Lías 2024 is produced from grapes sourced from vineyards located in the Ourense municipalities of Castrelo de Miño and Cenlle. Five hectares of vineyard planted at around 200 metres above sea level on franco-siliceous soils, an ideal setting for Treixadura to reach optimal ripeness. The uniqueness of this wine lies in its ageing on fine lees, a process that enhances its aromatic complexity and brings enticing bakery notes. On the palate, this process translates to a plush texture and a notable impression of smoothness.

Ribeiro is recovering in recent times all the historic splendor that for centuries made it the most reputed production area of Galicia and a flagship of the national whites. The revival of las varieties native, with the Treixadura grape at the forefront, has positioned Ribeiro among Spain's most sought-after whites and attracted the attention of major wine groups, such as Bodegas Familiares Matarromera.

Tasting notes

View

Bright pale straw colour with greenish and steely reflections, clean and very bright.

Nose

On the nose, it is clean, intense and very expressive, with notes of freshly cut apple, green banana peel and apricot, alongside delicate hints of white flowers and carnation. Tropical nuances of pineapple add further complexity, while a citrus backdrop of grapefruit brings freshness. Subtle bakery and brioche aromas emerge from its ageing on fine lees.

Mouth

On tasting, it shows excellent length and balance, with fresh Atlantic notes, a lively acidity and the rich aromatic sensations on the palate, where delicate memories of fresh apple and peach are perceived, with a long, vivid and balanced finish.

The winery

Casar de Vide is located in Castrelo de Miño, within the Ribeiro designation of origin. Since 2019, Casar de Vide has aimed to become one of the wine references of the Galician region, where excellence and quality are essential hallmarks of identity, both in the production methods and in its highly valued wines with geographical indication since 1932.The winery covers an area of 2,200 square meters and was built in 1988 from granite quarry stone next to the historic house, which was founded in 1957. Casar de Vide has successfully combined modernity, technology, and avant-garde with the classicism of a land that holds unique potential, something that has not gone unnoticed by Carlos Moro, the president of Bodegas Familiares Matarromera.
