The commitment to a more modern and fresh style also extends to classic labels like this one. Bordón D’Anglade Crianza 2021 (Silver Medal at Mundus Vini) is made with grapes from vineyards located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida, two of the most coveted areas of the D.O.Ca. Rioja. Its hallmarks are complexity, elegance, and a clear intention to highlight fruity notes. The name pays tribute to the founder of Bodegas Franco-Españolas: Frederick Anglade, a French winemaker who arrived in La Rioja in 1890. A lot of history in a red wine that today presents itself with a fresher, more accessible, and enjoyable profile.

General Information

Bordón D’Anglade Crianza 2021 is a blend of tempranillo (90%) and graciano (10%). The grapes come from three estates: two located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra (Rioja Alta) and one in Labastida (Rioja Alavesa). A total of six hectares settled on limestone bedrock and loamy-sandy soils, ideal conditions that preserve the fruit's freshness and enhance the fruity sensations of the tempranillo.

After selecting the grapes, each variety was vinified separately. Alcoholic fermentation took place in small tanks at a controlled temperature between 24 and 26 °C. Next, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in barrels. It was then aged for 15 months in new French oak barrels, gaining complexity and structure; and before being released to the market, it was refined in the bottle for an additional 9 months.

Bodegas Franco-Españolas is a true benchmark among the historic wineries of our country. Founded in 1890 by the Frenchman Frederick Anglade, together with other Spanish partners (hence the name “Franco-Españolas”), it is now entirely Spanish-owned and has been in the hands of the Eguizábal family since 1983.

Bodegas Franco-Españolas caters to modern consumer tastes while respecting its historical legacy. Its facilities, featuring elegant architecture, cover 59,000 square meters in the heart of Logroño, and its underground cellars house 15,000 barrels.

Bordón D’Anglade Crianza 2021 (D.O.Ca. Rioja) pairs wonderfully with dishes such as garlic chicken and mushroom risotto.
