The exclusive version of an unstoppable Ribera del Duero
Bela is one of the most promising Ribera wines in the entire Ribera del Duero region. We've had faith in this winery since it started out and are convinced that each new vintage is better than the previous one. The 2021 version of this red wine made its debut with one of the best possible news a wine anywhere in the world can receive: Wine Spectator had selected Bela 2021 as the only Ribera del Duero on its famous list of the Top 100 wines. And the 2022 vintage is following in its footsteps as it’s already been awarded 91+ Parker points.
Bela Crianza 2022 is the most exclusive version of a Tempranillo that’s excellent value for money. The previous vintage impressed critics as it was the only Ribera del Duero to be included on Wine Spectator’s list of top 100 wines in the world.
Bela is one the most renowned wines in the whole of Ribera del Duero. It’s one of the reds that we’re most excited about offering you as we’ve believed in this winery ever since it started out and reckon that each of its wines is even better than the previous ones. The first version to be released, the 2021 vintage, earned one of the highest worldwide recognitions for wine: Wine Spectator selected Bela 2021 as the only Ribera del Duero on its famous list of the Top 100 wines. And the 2022 vintage is following in its footsteps: the most influential critic in the world, Robert Parker, has already tasted it and awarded it no less than 91 points, while the Peñín guide has given it 90.
At Vinoselección we wanted to go even further and get hold of this Ribera del Duero that’s proving to be a success wherever it goes to be able to offer it to you. And we’ve got good news: not only have we selected the new 2022 vintage for you but we’ve even secured a special, exclusive batch for our customers which, unlike the original Bela 2022, displays the category of ‘Crianza’ as it’s spent at least 12 months in French oak barrels and you won’t find it on the market. Bela Crianza 2022 was made from Tempranillo grapes cultivated by the winery in Villalba de Duero (Burgos). It’s been aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, like all the firm’s wines in this category – a few months longer than its Bela 2022.
Bodegas Bela was founded in 2017. It’s based in one of the most unique areas of Ribera del Duero, located in the province of Burgos. There it owns 83 hectares of vineyards distributed between the municipalities of Villalba de Duero and Moradillo de Roa, and cutting-edge facilities built chiefly from materials such as wood, metal and glass.
Bela Crianza 2022 is a potent and elegant wine, ideal with dishes such as fillet of Ibérico pork in a pepper sauce or rabbit chasseur.
In 2017, the Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (CVNE) fulfilled the desire to honor the founders of the winery from 1879 by launching the Bodega Bela project in one of the most sought-after areas of the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin. This winemaking house, far from its native Rioja, began with an exceptional viticultural heritage of 82 hectares of vineyards, mostly of the tinta del país or tempranillo variety, spread across the Villalba de Duero and Moradillo de Roa regions. Two very distinct areas that contribute complementary attributes to the wines: more structure in Moradillo de Roa and more freshness in Villalba de Duero. A venture that was forged after more than a decade of acquiring these coveted vineyards.
Bela was the affectionate nickname given to Sofía, the daughter of CVNE co-founder Eusebio Real de Asúa, and the great-grandmother of the current leaders of the company. It is a cutting-edge winery with a surface area of 6,000 m² and a large barrel room with a capacity for 10,000 casks.
In 2024, it became one of the highlights of the Spanish wine world when the prestigious publication Wine Spectator selected Bela Crianza 2021 as the only Ribera del Duero wine in its Top 100.
In recent years, Bodega Bela has embarked on its adventure in the neighboring D.O. Rueda, where it is producing verdejo whites that are sure to make waves.
