Bodega Marañones is a project created in 2007 in the Sierra de Gredos by lawyer and entrepreneur José Fernando Cornejo Pablos. It debuted on the market with the 2008 vintage. Its vineyards are located in San Martín de Valdeiglesias, one of the three subzones of the D.O. Vinos de Madrid, bordering Ávila and Toledo. Mountainous landscapes where the significant temperature difference between day and night provides ideal conditions for grape ripening.
The philosophy of the winery is respect for the grape, applying very careful and methodical work. Its goal is to achieve elegant garnacha wines that express the characteristics of the soil and the vintage; with the freshness provided by the altitude and mountain climate, and the minerality of the granite soils. Each plot is vinified separately, and the winery works with organic and biodynamic methods. In addition to red wines made from garnacha, Marañones also produces white wines from the albillo real grape.
