The Gouws family's winemaking heritage dates back to 1691, when the first members of the lineage set foot on South African soil as part of the French Huguenots who emigrated to the Cape Colony. The current winery was founded in the late seventies by Ernst Gouws, who has also passed on his legacy to his children. His daughter Ezanne, leading marketing; his son Ernst, in the winemaking area; and his daughter Gwenda, in the administration department; are now responsible for the direction of this family-run winery.
