Ramón Roqueta

Family
Family with centuries of tradition linked to viticulture and wine production. Its history dates back to the year 1199, the date of the family masía, where Ramón Roqueta's ancestors began working the vineyard.
Professional career
Member of the Roqueta family, a family with a long winemaking tradition dating back to the 12th century. During his oenology studies in France, Ramón Roqueta was captivated by the garnacha variety and began to nurture the idea of developing a project in the region where this variety best expressed itself. With this premise, in 2007 he joined the family company (Roqueta Origen), developing the Lafou Celler project (in the village of Batea, Terra Alta), aiming to fully express the identity of the region and the garnacha variety. Recently, he has been developing the Massaluca project in La Pobla de Massaluca, another village in Terra Alta. In 2016, he was named “Winemaker of the Year” by the Associació Catalana de Sommeliers.
